DESIGNER STATEMENT
“The job of the designer is to illuminate the soul. In the art of fashion, the body is the canvas and the fabric is the paint. The role of the fabric is to accentuate the form. It’s composition texture and color must all be in complete symbiosis with the subject, complimenting, not overpowering, honoring, not discriminating, expressing not constraining the figure’s most treasured qualities. On the rare occasion with all these components seamlessly integrate, a portrait of the self is powerfully displayed. My favorite medium is the gown. To date I have designed approximated 2000. Each one represents a stitch in the fabric of my own life. Through the ripples of this fabric I have learned some of my greatest lessons, the most powerful of which has been to surrender to the direction of the design.“
